Pissaro and friends...
Here is an excellent way to learn all about the artists of the impressionist era, their interrelationships, and a focus on the life of Camille Pissaro. If you are at all interested in the paintings, then having an insight as to what went into their creation only enhances your enjoyment of them. Well written.

Developing Software Applications in a Changing It Environment: Management Strategies and Techniques
Published in Hardcover by McGraw Hill Text (January, 1997)
Author: John A. Stone
Average review score:

Pertinent pointers for real-world issues
It's difficult to stand out in a field where experts crop up as quickly as the technologies they disseminate, but Stone's insights go beyond the transient technological specifics, and address those thorny underlying issues that reemerge like unsightly weeds with each seasonal paradigm. Stone cuts deep to the difficult areas where technology, culture, and even psychological drivers interact to produce challenges impervious to superficial solutions. These are the observations of someone who has clearly 'been there and done that,' with none of the jargon, posturing, or nebulous theory that fills all too many books on the management of technology. To any person faced with controling a technology-intensive company, project, or department, I could recommend no better book to read first, and then keep close at hand for frequent reference.

Diamonds (Fred Ward Gem Book Series)
Published in Paperback by Gem Books Publishing (01 February, 1998)
Authors: Fred Ward and Charlotte Ward
Average review score:

amazingly good
I just finished reading the Fred Ward books "Diamonds" and "Rubies and Sapphires" in his gem series, and I was very pleasantly surprised. These books are entertaining as well as informative, and found myself telling obscure facts about the different gemstones to my friends and family. I was in the market for a ring with my fiance, and so found the books particularly insightful. Along with the writing, the color photography was absolutely sinful, with the most striking pictures of jewelry I have ever seen. Breathtaking. Definitely a must read, even if you think you aren't that interested in gems in the first place. I did think that the price of the books was exceedingly high, however, and I wish they would market them as an entire collection instead of just the separate books.

But all in all, wonderful read!

Dickens' Working Notes for His Novels
Published in Hardcover by University of Chicago Press (April, 1987)
Authors: Charles Dickens and Harry Stone
Average review score:

This Is A Stupendous Book!
This is a book I first checked out from the library in college. I must tell you, for anyone who wants to become a writer, this is the most fascinating book. After I read this baby at least five times, and the University of Iowa library was screaming to get it back, I must have checked it out at least 4 more times. Now that I can, I have my own copy. This book will explain to you--from the inside--how Charles Dickens planned and constructed his novels. Remember the famous Hemingway quote: "Fiction is architecture, not interior decorating." This book contains the blueprints for dozens of now-famous novels. curmudgeon99@earthlink.net

but if you want detailed, page after page long info on a certain rare gem- this is not the book. this is just a gorgeous simple overview.

The Dove in the Stone (Finding the Sacred in the Commonplace)
Published in Paperback by Theosophical Publishing House (November, 1988)
Authors: Alice O. Howell and Christopher Bamford
Average review score:

Connects the earth, its feminine nature and the divine
Alice O. Howell has written the type of simple book that holds profound truths. It is personal in the wonderful love story of Alice and her husband Walter and universal in their search for spiritual truth. I always wanted a book like the ones Marmee gave each of the Little Women and this is it. There are excerpts of spiritual passages from all the world's religions and there is the connection of the Earth, its feminine nature and the Divine Spirit. If you are interested in Celtic Christianity, the Hagia Sophia or the esoteric tradition in Western Philosophy I highly recommend this book.

Downfall
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (11 July, 2000)
Author: Samuel E. Stone
Average review score:

A Real Eye Opener
Downfall is one of those stories which needed to be told. It had me on the edge of my seat! Sam Stone has a unique way of making you feel as if your part of the action and you just can't put it down. So real, and yet touching, as you become involved in the events as they unfold before your eyes. I've now read the entire "Sarge Triology," "Shade," "Crush," and "Downfall,"...all I can say is their great...but leave me wanting more!

Dr. Randolph Stone's Polarity Therapy: The Complete Collected Works
Published in Paperback by CRCS Publications (March, 1987)
Authors: Randolph Stone and Harlan Tarbell
Average review score:

A must for natural healers.
Dr. Stone published these books back in the '50s, but his insights are still ahead of their time. His profound eclectic understanding of the human energy fields and their application in healing are holistic, indepth and dynamic.

Reading The Complete Collected Works is a lifelong labor of love. After almost 25 years I am still reading and researching the principles that Dr. Stone intertwines in these volumnes.

The illustrations and charts would be worth the price of the book by themselves. Each one can be studied like a tarot card. They will evoke from you nonconscious responses which will then translate into your healing work.

If you are looking for a light read; forget it. The Complete Works are not for bedtime reading. Have your highlighter and note cards handy.

Enjoy
